What you predict in the NFL game
Pro football is the most heavily analysed sport there is, and it shows in the numbers: NFL totals sit in a narrow band, and the spread is built around the margins games actually finish on.
Projected total
35–58 pointsThe combined points the matchup was projected to produce. Most NFL totals close somewhere in the low 40s to about 50, so the slider runs 35–58 in half-point steps and landing within 1.5 points counts as nailed. A two-point miss is a good read; a ten-point miss means you saw a different game.
Home win chance
0–100%How likely the home team was to win. NFL parity keeps most games between about 30% and 70%, and home field is worth less than people assume — reading the matchup matters more than reading the venue.
Point spread
0–100%How likely the favorite was to win by more than the point spread. The spread is set to split the game, so this lands close to 50% more often than not — the skill is spotting which way it leans. NFL margins bunch up on 3 and 7, which is why a spread sitting right on one of those numbers behaves differently from one just off it.
How a day plays out
Open the matchup
One real NFL game from earlier in the season, the same one for every player, with both teams' records as they stood that week. The result stays hidden — the point is your read, not your homework.
Make three predictions
Three guesses per number. After each one you're told whether the answer is higher or lower, so a miss still tells you something and you can close in.
Get scored against the close
When you finish, each number is scored 0–100 on how close you landed to where the market closed before the game. Your day's score is the average of the three.
Why you're scored against the closing number
A football game is decided by a handful of plays — a tipped pass, a missed kick, a fourth-down call. The final score is real, but it is a noisy measure of which read was right.
The number the market settled on right before kickoff is the best public estimate of that game that exists: injury news, weather and a week of analysis are all priced in. Scoring against it rewards a good read even when the game itself swung on one bounce.
The NFL is also where the reads are easiest to learn from. Totals move on weather, pace and quarterback play, and the spread on key numbers like 3 and 7 teaches you fast how margins really land.

NFL prediction game FAQ
What is the daily NFL prediction game?
It is a free once-a-day football game. You get one real NFL matchup from earlier in the season, with the result hidden, and predict three numbers about it — the projected total points, the home team's chance to win, and the chance the favorite covers the point spread. Every player gets the same matchup, with three guesses per number and a higher-or-lower hint after each.
Is this sports betting?
No. There is no wagering, no deposit, and nothing to win but bragging rights. You are predicting numbers about a game that has already been played, to test how well you read it. You cannot win or lose money.
What does 'covers the spread' mean in the NFL game?
The point spread is the margin the favorite was expected to win by. Covering means winning by more than that. You predict how likely that was, as a percentage. Because the spread is set to make the game roughly even, the answer usually sits near 50% — and nailing which side of 50 it falls on is the hard part.
How many points should I guess for an NFL total?
The slider runs 35 to 58 points in half-point steps. Most NFL games close in the low 40s to around 50; wind, a dome, two fast offenses or two backup quarterbacks are what push a total toward either end.
How is my NFL score calculated?
Each of the three numbers is scored 0 to 100 on how close it lands to the closing number, and your day's score is the average of the three. Nailing a number on your first guess scores more than getting there on your third.
Do I need an account to play?
No. You can play as a guest straight away. Creating an account saves your history and streak across devices, and your guest progress carries over when you sign in.
Can I play yesterday's NFL game?
Yes, if it's recent: today and the 2 days before it stay open to everyone. Daily Plus opens the full archive of past slates, lets you play every league on the same day instead of one, and includes a streak repair each week.
